CHANGED Master Program©
Cultural Competency & Intervention Training (3 Days)
The CHANGED Master Program© is an advanced three-day training designed for professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of military culture while also developing the skills to deliver the structured CHANGED 12-week intervention program.
This training combines cultural competency and best practice education with applied clinical intervention training, offering a comprehensive, structured approach to working with veterans and military-connected populations.
It is designed for psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals working in clinical or support settings who are seeking both cultural understanding and practical intervention tools that can be used directly with clients.
The program builds on the foundation established in the 2-day Cultural Competency & Best Practice Training and expands it into an applied, intervention-focused clinical model.
Training Overview
The CHANGED Master Program© provides a structured framework for understanding the psychological, relational, and systemic impacts of military service, while also equipping professionals with a clearly defined therapeutic pathway to support recovery, adjustment, and reintegration.
A key focus of this training is bridging the gap between cultural understanding and clinical intervention. Participants are supported to move beyond awareness of military experience into confident, structured delivery of a 12-week program designed specifically for veterans and military-connected clients.
The training emphasizes trauma-informed practice, ethical care, and cultural competence throughout, ensuring that intervention delivery is grounded in respect for lived experience and clinical best practice.
What the Training Covers
This three-day training includes all components of the 2-day Cultural Competency & Best Practice Training, along with advanced clinical intervention training:
- Full introduction to military cultural competence and best practice
- Structured 12-week CHANGED intervention program
- Deployment, transition, and reintegration impacts
- Family systems and relational dynamics
- Clinical formulation, assessment, and treatment planning
- Session-by-session intervention structure and delivery
Each component is explored in depth, with a focus on practical application, clinical decision-making, and adapting interventions to the unique experiences of veterans and their families.
The CHANGED 12-Week Intervention Program
A central feature of this training is the CHANGED 12-week structured intervention program, which provides a clear and consistent therapeutic pathway for working with veterans.
The program is designed to support individuals through key areas of post-service adjustment, including identity transition, emotional processing, relational difficulties, and reintegration challenges.
It integrates:
- Military service experiences and operational exposure
- Psychological and emotional adjustment following service
- Reintegration into civilian life
- Family and relational system dynamics
- Trauma-informed therapeutic principles
Professionals are guided through each stage of the program to ensure they are confident in delivering structured, consistent, and ethically grounded interventions.
Clinical Focus and Practice Development
This training places strong emphasis on clinical formulation and applied practice. Participants are supported to develop a clear understanding of how to assess presenting issues within a military-informed context and translate this understanding into structured treatment planning.
The training also explores how military experience can shape presentation in therapy, including issues related to identity, trust, emotional regulation, trauma exposure, and relational patterns.
By integrating cultural competence with clinical intervention, the program supports professionals to deliver care that is both contextually informed and clinically effective.
